      One of the names and characteristics of God is “the Breaker.”  Micah 2:13 in the Amplified Version says, “The Breaker [the Messiah] will go before them.  They will breakthrough, pass in through the gate and go out through it, and their King will pass on before them, the Lord at their head.”  The Lord is ready to establish Himself at the gates of our lives, families, churches, cities, and nation.  But we can’t truly experience breakthrough without first understanding Jesus as the Breaker.  Barbara Yoder does a great job of explaining this in her book, The Breaker Anointing.  At one point she says, “The term ‘breaker’ is foreign to most Christians.  Barnes’ Notes says that the ‘Breaker-Through’ was one of the titles given to Christ.  The image here in Micah is one both of conquering and deliverance.  Something has to be broken through.  Something has to be overcome.  Breakthrough is something that we cannot do by ourselves.  It requires divine intervention.  God has given apostolic people territories to take and adversity to overcome which they cannot do by themselves.  We need God to break through for us.  In the same way God led Moses and broke open the way in those days is how He is leading the church today.”

      Some of the principles and coinciding results of breakthrough power are as follows:

1. Your light with break forth (Is. 58:8).  Light dispels the darkness.  Therefore, in order for our light to break through, we need to ask Him to remove any darkness within us.  As our light breaks forth, we are able to break through into a new place.  Two excellent principles for breaking out of darkness into light include fasting and giving.  Ask the Lord if there is a particular fast He has called you to in order to break out of darkness.  Also, if you are willing to give in places you have not been willing to give in before, you may be surprised at how the Lord will break open new avenues of supply.
2. Your healing will spring forth (Is. 58:8).  The Lord is bringing the Body from grief to glory.  Infirmities that have afflicted us for years will need to flee.  Declare that hidden places of grief will be exposed in you so that you will be made whole.  Like Hannah, we need to ask the Lord to look upon our afflictions and barrenness, and make us fruitful.
3. The new song will break forth (Is. 45:1).  Many times when breakthrough occurred in the Word of God the people would sing and rejoice.  Moses and Miriam sang when they crossed out of Egypt.  Deborah sang when God defeated the Midianites.  When you break through, rejoice in song and fill the air with praises to God.
4. A renewed joy will arise in your spirit.  “Do not sorrow, for the joy of the Lord is your strength” (Neh. 8:10). This is a great account of how God’s people came to an understanding of their covenant blessings.  Nehemiah then told the people not to grieve over what they had missed, but break into joy instead.  The moment you break through and understand the truth that has been hidden from you, allow a new joy and hope to arise.
5. New joy causes waste places to be rebuilt.  The breaker anointing causes comfort to be loosed (Is. 52:9).  That comfort restores what has been desolate and barren and causes places that have laid in ruins to be rebuilt.New strength will arise in your spirit.  “Those that wait upon the Lord will mount up (breakthrough) . . .and renew their strength” (Is. 40:31.  You will be able to gain strength you need to overcome the mountain in your path.

 As we are looking at prayers that outwit the devil, we need to allow God to break through for us in a new way.  It is time for the Lord to breakthrough, for the Church to breakout, and for the devil’s strategies to breakup!
